Hello from Coffee and me!

Born and raised in Shanghai, my journey led me across the Pacific to Eugene, Oregon in 2015, where I began my American adventure as a high school international student. The Pacific Northwest captured my heart, drawing me north to Seattle for college at the University of Washington. There, I discovered my passion for understanding both human behavior and technology, graduating in 2022 with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in Informatics. Today, I've found my calling as a photographer, capturing moments and stories through my lens. I share my life with my beloved golden retriever, Coffee, and my husband, building our happy home in Seattle.

About

A Quiet Friend Behind the Lens

As your photographer, I'm first your advocate, then your companion, and finally your memory keeper. My background in psychology taught me the power of listening without judgment, while my love for photography gives me the tools to transform your moments into memories. I find joy in your happiness and approach each session with both warmth and professionalism. Whether you're celebrating a milestone or capturing everyday magic, I'm here to make you feel comfortable, heard, and seen. My goal isn't to impose my artistic vision, but to help your authentic story unfold naturally through my lens.

My journey with photography began in 2017 while shooting for my school newspaper with my first DSLR. Though I later upgraded to a full-frame mirrorless camera in 2022 (initially to capture better photos of my golden retriever, Coffee), I discovered something far more meaningful along the way.

After mastering the technical aspects - the interplay of shutter speed, ISO, aperture, white balance, composition, posing, and post-processing, I realized that perfect technical execution alone doesn't create images that move me. What truly makes my heart sing is capturing genuine connections: the quiet glance between lovers, the unguarded laughter of friends, the tender moments between pets and their humans. These authentic interactions are what I seek through my lens. While technical skill sets the foundation, it's the raw, honest emotions and real relationships that bring my images to life.

Finding Joy in Real Connections

In Chinese culture, I was taught to keep my head down and let my hard work speak for itself. The thought of celebration felt almost indulgent – like inviting unwanted attention or jealousy. But life has shown me a profound truth: celebration isn't just about marking big milestones; it's about honoring the quiet, everyday moments that make up our story.

I learned this lesson most powerfully through a photoshoot with my grandmother. Initially reluctant (and yes, I had to bend the truth about the cost), she eventually lit up seeing herself captured in a way she'd never seen before. Those photos became even more precious when they were displayed at her funeral – a reminder that sometimes the most meaningful gifts we give aren't just for ourselves, but for those who love us.

This journey has transformed not just how I approach photography, but how I view connection itself. From seeing my mother using a photo of me and my dog Coffee as her phone background, to my friend's father proudly carrying the graduation polaroid I took of his daughter in his wallet. I've witnessed how photographs become bridges between hearts. As someone who once struggled with forming deep connections, I now see every click of my camera as an opportunity to celebrate not just the moment, but the relationships that make life rich and meaningful. Because every smile, every glance, every ordinary Tuesday afternoon deserves to be remembered.

Let's capture your story – not just for today, but for all the tomorrows and everyone who holds you dear.
